

The company was spun off from Aramark as an independent entity. On June 8, 2011, Spectrum Equity investors made a $50 million minority investment in Seamless. Service is available for individual orders in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Miami, Chicago, Houston, Austin, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and London.

As of 2005, Seamless was offered to individual users, and they currently work with more than 12,000 restaurants, serving more than 4,000 businesses, and have over 2,000,000 members in the United States and London. Seamless was launched in 1999 by Jason Finger, Paul Appelbaum, Todd Arky, and Andy Appelbaum as SeamlessWeb, providing businesses with a web-based system for ordering food from restaurants and service providers.

Seamless is a takeout service and part of the Grubhub brand.
